Are you compliant with the 2020 Septic Tank Law?
The rules for septic tanks have changed and since 1st January 2020 the Environment Agency no longer permits septic tanks which discharge into a surface water course. If your system does not meet these standards then you have three options:
- Connect onto the mains sewerage system
- Install a drainage infiltration system, or;
- Replace your septic tank with a fully compliant sewage treatment plant. This plant must meet the required British Standards and be of an appropriate size for the dwelling that it serves in line with British Water guidelines
